Now in its 12th year, Oak Valley Productions Inc. presents Manitoba's Passion Play
- June 16th (Thursday) at 11:00 am
- July 8, 9, 10 (Friday through Sunday) at 7:30 pm
Once again Oak Valley Productions Inc. presents the inspiring drama
of Manitoba's Passion Play at its scenic outdoor theatre site near La Riviere, Manitoba.
Numerous volunteers from all across southern Manitoba, including cast, crew, front of house personnel and many more work together to present this unique Manitoba event. Year after year many are still discovering this hidden gem.
For the third year in a row Manitoba's Passion Play has presented a premiere performance in June specifically for school groups. This allows the possibility for field trips into the area and provides youth an opportunity to experience this award winning production of the last days of the life of Jesus Christ
on earth.
Set and Stage Construction
Over the past few years it became evident that the set facilities were deteriorating and would need to be replaced. The board applied for and received a grant from Manitoba Community Places which, together with funds raised through the Simon of Cyrene fundraising campaign, allowed the design and construction to begin.
The plan includes two permanent enclosed buildings located on the back section of the stage. These structures provide the base on which the set facade can be easily mounted and will provide storage for sets and props in the off season. Additional concrete has been poured to extend the backstage in order to accomodate the expanded footprint of the set.
The result will be a much more efficient set up and tear down process for our volunteers. A weatherproof location for additional onsite storage will be a welcome addition to the current facilities.
While much of the cost has been covered, there is still a need for additional funds to meet the costs of the project. Any donations are eligible for a tax receipt. See the Contact Us page for donation information. Oak Valley Productions Inc. is a registered charity.
